Five Minute Friday: More

Trying something new today.

Linking up with Kate Motaung and Five Minute Friday.

The prompt today is “more”.

Dave Ramsey had a great answer for a listener who wanted to know what the difference was between ambition and discontentment.

It’s something I’ve wondered about, too.

Dave made the point that selfish ambition is wrong, but ambition that isn’t selfish and doesn’t stem from discontentment is not wrong.

It’s possible to be ambitious for the right reasons and still be content.

Our desire for “more” can get us into trouble.

I guess, just like most of life’s challenges, it all comes back to heart issues.

That is SO interesting about the possibility of being ambitious yet still content. I think it is all in the motivation — WHY do we want more? It’s good to take the time to ask that question of ourselves. Thanks for writing about it.

So much to think about! Goals + selflessness = Ambition but pursuits + selfishness = Discontentment. That’s such a great way to look at, and self check ourselves. Thank you for sharing your heart today, so glad I saw this one. Blessings!

Welcome to FMF- I’m glad you’ve joined us! I enjoyed reading your post- my thoughts were on similar lines. I agree that ambition can be a good thing but there are dangers and as you say, I think it all comes down to our hearts.

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words, Lesley. Writing five minutes unedited was a good stretch.

Thanks, Susan, for the welcome. I’m not on Twitter. My daughter recently set up my instagram account and I’m still trying to figure that out 🙂 Teaching old dogs, you know . . .
